My mate and I decided to do a bit of detecting on new fields which I required early on in the week. We started off in different directions within 5 Min I had my first signal I dug about four and half ins deep and had my first ever Roman brooch which I was chuffed about, my mate peter had a couple of Victorian pennies and half pennies, after a few hours we packed up and said that we will come back another day. A week or so went by and all we could think about was trying the field out again. We arrived at the field and set up our base camp with the excitement we off loaded our gear. We both got out our Explorers and decided on which way to go, it was a hot and sticky day the ground was baked hard with the grass being a bit long. Within 10 min I had my first iffy signal which I was about to pass on it until our motto popped into my head (if in doubt dig it !) as I dug I realised it was going to be hard work as the ground was very stony.
