About 5 years ago, I purchased a used Lobo metal detector. I have wanted a detector for years, so needless to say I was happy to finally get one. I thought it was working alright, I was able to find some interesting things… lost toys, a few coins, parts & pieces of some unknown items. Then approx. 6 months ago, I met a man, Bob McGinnis, and we started to discuss metal detecting. To my surprise, he told me that he owned a business for metal detectors. (This was nice, because I’ve wanted to upgrade to something new). He then mentioned, that he and his friend were always looking for more people to help on big hunts. Of course I thought that would be great to go out of my area to dig for Civil War relics. My only issue was using the old Lobo detector on the dense soil of the site we were to hunt. I just happen to get in touch with Bob prior to an upcoming hunt, and I told him I was going to see if I could borrow a White detector, to improve my chances of locating any relics. It worked okay; I found some pretty cool stuff… lots of horseshoes, couple modern bullets, and a saddlebag hook. However, I was keeping my eye on the numerous other hunters that were using Minelab E-TRAC’s, and the items they were finding. (WOW!) I knew now, what my new detector was going to be!
