I got capped!

12 Sep 2021

I found this 1834 Capped Bust U.S. dime this summer in a wheat stubble field in Michigan. The homestead site dated to at least 1857 and was gone by 1893. The original settler, was born 1769, after doing some online research. This was the first capped bust coin that I’ve found and I crossed it off my yearly bucket list. I was hunting with my buddies, Chad and Dan, when I found it. It was a solid, repeatable 24 signal next to one of my buddies previously-dug holes. I immediately shared my excitement once we sprayed the dirt off of it and realized what it was. We couldn’t get over the amazing details left in the coin.
