Hawaii Vacation Score

09 Aug 2023

This year my family and I went to Hawaii on vacation. My dad and I are both huge fans of metal detecting and decided to bring our detectors with us. We rented a place right on the water and I thought it would be super easy to go out hunting. The first time I went out it was a higher tide. I ended up getting my headphones wet and finding a silver and gold ring with what looks to be London blue topaz. Later during our vacation I went back early in the morning and noticed it was really low tide. I started hunting and noticed a staircase which was mostly gone. I thought I would try detecting around it imagining it might have had traffic when it was still in one piece. The first signal I had showed up like a nickel. I dug it up to find it was a buffalo nickel! I ran to my dad, woke him up from his nap and we both went out to see what else we could find. Over all we found some of the oldest and most warn coins we have ever found at the beach. We found a total of 2 buffalo nickels, maybe 2 or 3 wheaties and one V-nickel. These are some of the oldest coins I have ever found while metal detecting!
