From it’s natural state of gold in the rich grounds of Western Australian gold fields to the Perth mint then stamped in 1910, into a 22ct Gold sovereign, lost not long after it was made to be found 108yrs later by yours truly in Wheatbelt Western Australia . This is the story of my best find to date. It was only last weekend (5 days ago) and since I found one of the pinnacles of relic hunting metal detecting here in Australia I can’t put this fine coin down. Each time I hold it, I think back to the very second I dug it. Thank God my wife and I have a YouTube metal detecting Chanel and I filmed the find, the dig and my mega reaction once I realised I had dug the holy grail . This is a find I will never sell and a good reward for all my research, klm’s driven, 1000’s of klm’s walked. Hundreds of bites, stings and close calls with snakes. True treasure that I will treasure and admire all the time. My words of advice are never give up. The next beep may just be the mighty gold sov ! Always come back to good areas and come in from different angles you’ve detected before and coming into a hot summer, keep hydrated, if you’re tired, thirsty you will be surprised how much you lose concentration and may miss such a memorable find .
