The adventure begins near an underwater village in La Estancia, San Juan Del Rio, Mexico. My friend and I arrived at 10:00 AM, eager to find colonial coins in the edge of the dam. At this time of year the water level of the dam where the remains of a civilization from the 1500's lies low.
There we were, chasing the treasure we hoped would come out soon. For 4 hours we had no luck, we only found pulltabs, coins from 1950s and garbage.
Disillusioned and thirsty, we decided to return to the car to eat and drink water. To get there, we had to cross a plot of land, so difficult to walk on, the terrain was uneven.
I risked myself to fall, but i turned on the detector to find out if there was anything in this place. I fell twice for keeping the detector straight. Almost at the end and finding nothing, I hoped to find something on the edge of the land.
Suddenly, my CTX 3030 marked 12/45, I was excited and without wasting time I started to dig on the ground. I couldn't believe that a “1787 Carolus III” was waiting there. I almost saw the coin smiling at me.
Of course I hesitated, but I learned that despite the fatigue and the effort of crossing the terrain, never giving up was what led us to victory and finding this beautiful piece. That's how life works too, we must not give up, because our treasure may be a few meters away from us.
