Freight Train

14 Aug 2019

August 1st & 2nd. WOW!!! 14.96grams of 950 palladium and 14K rose gold. Later on, a silver wedding band. My wife and I usually leave lake hunting until after depositor's season, but finds are becoming scarce in city neighbourhoods. We decided to go to a nearby lake for a water hunt. Just after emptying my pouch of recyclable aluminium cans, I returned to the water. Twenty feet later and in about 10 inches of water, I get a screaming freight train sound through my headphones. 24 on the Equinox, but LOUD! I took one shallow scoop, still there. Another scoop and I see a greyish ring tumble to the bottom of the scoop. Heart pounding, I dump the scoop contents into my floating strainer and beheld my beauty, my precious. I look up to see my wife walking towards the recycle bin so I furtively put the ring in my pouch without calling out to her. After about 20 minutes, a screaming 33 on the screen. A silver band. Oh happy day! The next day we go to a different lake. First signal (31 on the Equinox) and first scoop, out comes the next valuable ring, 10K gold or silver. Thank-you Minelab and the Equinox 800!! This was a great way to start the month.
