On June 23 2017, I took my "new to me" Minelab CTX 3030 that I had acquired about a month earlier to a site that I have hunted with several other machines over the past three years. I expected nothing as I've really hit this spot hard, but got geared up and started swinging. In less than 10 steps I got a nice hit that seemed a little jumpy at first but settled to a 12-35/12-36. Thinking it was going to be a bottle cap or zinc penny, I dug it anyway as I've really cleaned this site out of easy targets. Much to my amazement I saw that nice buttery gold tone in the plug, and knew right away I had my first gold ever, a nice heavy 10 gram, 5/16" wide, 14K band! Who knows if the CTX 3030 was the secret weapon; all I can say with certainty is that I finally found what I had missed on multiple previous hunts.
