I have only just recently entered the world of metal detecting, having purchased a Minelab GO-FIND 40 about a month ago. I was given permission to detect on an old property on the outskirts of Toowoomba, and knowing that this property was established around 1850's. Found this 1864 English Penny (even though it is in pretty bad shape), I was super excited. Coin is over 150 years old, and in Australian terms, that is pretty old for us. Pre dates our own currency. Got a feeling that I am now hooked on this hobby, despite losing my reading glasses in the process.
