After doing some research I bought my first metal detector about two years ago, a Vanquish 340, as a way to explore the hobby and as something fun to do with my nephew. My folks built their home about 40 years ago on property that used to be farmland on the outskirts of a small town that was founded in the early 1800s. I have been able to find some interesting finds just exploring the property including an old wagon hitch and horseshoes. Some of my favorite finds I have saved in a shadowbox and include an old General Motors key, a shotgun shell, an old brass button, and my favorite, a decorative brass spoon.
