Out with the midweek searchers on a nice spring day, 50+ acres of ploughed and rolled, off we went dead on 9am saw a few people heading off to the left of the field. As if they knew something, so decided to follow them, 15 mins. In the hammered started coming up so I knew I was in the right area :-) as I approached them I veered off to the left and got a good signal, dug out the clod and nothing. So got my pinpointer and located the find in the side of the hole, got my small digging knife and as I dug out fell a gold coin into the hole , which I couldn't believe what I was seeing, all I remember was this gold shield, I called Mickey whose club it is and the rest is history. What a day! This happen in the first half hour of the dig, I spent the rest of the dig in a daze. Singing spandeau ballets song gold.
