Excalibur II finds double platinum and diamonds on its maiden voyage!

15 Oct 2021

I recently purchased a new Excalibur II and was looking forward to taking it on it's first water hunt. After some collaboration with Gigmaster of YouTube fame, we agreed to take a road trip and hit a place where he John Boy and Gene had pulled several gold and silver rings and we were hoping there might be more! As soon as we entered we started getting targets, coins were everywhere. It wasn't long until I got that beautiful strong, low tone from the Excalibur. If you have heard that tone, you know what I'm talking about, I hear it in my dreams! It took a couple of minutes to dig out the target and when I looked in the scoop I couldn't believe it! I called Gigmaster over to get a look as I thought it might be a junker, but not even close! The ring is platinum with a beautiful princess cut diamond solitaire. The stone I found out had a GIA certification number inscribed on it and I was able to pull the report, 0.74 Carats, Color F, Clarity VS2. Overall, a VERY nice stone! Not long after, the Excalibur sniffed out another platinum ring, this one also with a 1/2 carat of diamonds! I could not believe my luck! I have been detecting now for close to 10 years and to date, had only found a total of 3 platinum rings, one being a band a few months before these two showed up! Gigmaster also did well this hunt using the Equinox 800 and found a nice gold ring with diamonds! Overall we had a great hunt and found a ton of things to dig, both trash and treasure. It was great to take the new Excalibur II out on its maiden voyage and come home with two very nice rings, thanks Gigmaster, and thanks Minelab!
