I belong to the CFMDC. This time of year (fall-winter), a friend of mine (Jim) and I do dirt fishing. Old homes just torn down, empty lots. Mostly in Central Florida. You never know what can be found. From copper pipe, (broken pieces leftover after a tear down), brass, possible silver, toy matchbox cars, Tootsie toys, Jewellery, you name it. Everything in Florida sinks deep fast because it is sandy soil. The good stuff (silver coins) are usually a foot or so down, so mostly clad. That’s why with dirt fishing, after a tear down They've removed the house, driveway, walkways to the back yard, close lines, ( I always go there first). Now my bucket listed! Jim and I were detecting a small lot in Conway, lots of iron. This is where the Equinox 800 does the job getting around all that iron to find a treasure hiding in the history of the property we were detecting. I got a mid-high tone and pulled up a a a, Oh crap! It's a CS Confederate buckle! Started shaking. What is it doing here? These aren't just anywhere to find. A rare find. Here? There was an old home here long ago. I kept looking for the wreath to complete the set. No luck. I did find a few smaller buttons, (not sure if from same period). I did go there a few more times. They started putting up a new home there. I guess it's off to another teardown. Search continues.
