Success Story

What can I say, I went to what has turned out to be a permission I’m now calling my “fields of dreams”, as it’s produced some of my best finds to date. I was detecting on a patch of ground where only a few days before I had found a Cnut Saxon silver penny when I had a deep signal with my equinox 800 with 15” coil its reading was 10 and had a good feeling. I dug down about 15cm and there as I looked laid a silver hammered coin. I filmed on my phone as I do often on this permission because I like to show my finds with friends and fellow Detectorist just what fantastic capabilities the Minelab Equinox has a winkling out hammered penny’s and other small silver coins. I didn’t want to damage this hammered coin because just looking at it still laden in soil I knew it looked to be in great condition. Once home I gently washed the coin in warm water as not to damage it, it was in beautiful condition and after posting on a group that I find friendly and has good expertise in identifying these rare coins I found it to be an important find for me as it was minted in Newcastle and very local to me in the North East of England. The coin was a silver hammered penny of .., Edward 1st more commonly as Edward Longshanks and Hammer of the Scots. Coin ID..Edward I Newcastle mint, VILL NOVI CAS TRI... 1272/1307 this coin I’m putting forward as Minelab find of the month because it’s stunning. If you choose this as find of the month it would mean a lot to me to include my account of how I found my coin as I’m getting my 7 year old son interested in the hobby and you posted a picture on Minelab site of myself and my son a while back, I will include another picture. Many thanks Mr Simon Thompson Minelab Equinox 800 user expert.
