I am a 51 year old who has been metal detecting part time for about two years and live in South Australia. In 2009 whilst detecting with my X-TERRA 70 in a suburban parkland, I found a World War II medal from about seven-eight inches down, near the base of a big old tree. It was extremely dirty and stained, it took a lot of soaking and elbow grease to clean the medal. Once cleaned, I was then able to read the soldiers name and serial no. which are located on the rim of Australian war medals
