Shortly after obtaining permission to detect on a piece of private property, I received a killer signal on my CTX 3030. To my surprise I unearthed a nice silver Washington quarter, but the real surprise was hiding right next to the quarter.
As a rule of thumb I always make sure to re-scan my hole in hopes of finding another item. In this case the find of my life was hiding out right next door to that silver quarter. As I scanned the ground I received the exact same signal at the exact same depth as the silver quarter. Fully expecting to retrieve another silver quarter I decided to capture this dig on film. What I unearthed next took my breath away.
I was met by a shimmering gold pocket watch in the bottom of the hole. Years of corrosion had taken its toll on the watch making it difficult to open. Later on I took the opportunity to film the opening of this pocket watch in an attempt to obtain a makers name and serial number. The video follows my process of discovery, identification, dating and the history behind my best find to date.
Special thanks to Minelab for making the best detectors in the world. With treasures like these laying around you can't afford to be using anything else.
