I never thought I would find anything like this! Sometimes you meet the right people at the right time, who let you look at the right place at the right time. My fiancé, my best friend, and I gained permission at an incredible site full of civil war history. We journeyed our way to a field that was loaded with signals. My best friends first hole was an eagle breast plate! He hasn’t even dug his first bullet and has only detected for a week! I got a 20-30 signal on my minelab equinox 800. It sounded way to good to be true. I figured it was going to be can lid, or piece of sheet metal. But it was 15 feet from where the eagle breast plate was uncovered. I dug the hole not expecting to find anything. I just was enjoying the moment of being alive and being in the beautiful great outdoors. I flipped the plug and saw a small green rectangle leaching out into the surrounding dirt. I wiped off some of the dirt and saw three hooks and immediately knew what it was from my countless days of fantasizing about finding one through other peoples post, and history books. I immediately fell back to the grass and could not breathe. My fiancé and best friend left their holes to see what I was freaking out about. All I could say was “I found a cs buckle” over and over. I hadn’t looked at the front but knew it was going to be a beauty! I finally got up and wiped it off a bit. There it was in all of its glory. The elusive C.S.A buckle in solid brass. A true dream come true. I will never forget the countless hugs, cheers, fist bumps, and high-fives we shared. The smiles on our faces and just truly living in the moment enjoying the wonderful day. There are thousands of signals left and can’t wait to uncover and preserve this incredible history and tell the story of those who walked before us.
