Copper Culture Spearhead

22 Sep 2019

The night before I was going metal detecting I was doing some research on a new permission, I was going over old maps and studying the area trying to find a good starting point, the permission is rich in North America Indian activity has 5 old home sites dating back to the late 1800's a River that runs through and 2 old roads no longer in use. The morning I was heading out my excitement was running high just thinking about all the possibilities that I might unearth. I started out at a home site along the River and I made some great finds with my equinox 800, I found 3 pieces of a broken brass bell, a general service civil war eagle button, a harmonica reed and a 1863 civil war store card token. As the day was ending I decided to walk down along the river back to the car swinging the equinox along the way I came up to a giant oak tree that was massive in size as I was detecting around the big tree I only got one signal hitting a VDI of copper I dug down roughly 3" to my surprise I pulled out this Copper Culture Spearhead it was hard to believe I was holding something that dates back 3000-5000 years made by North American Indians.
