After two weeks of tracking down the owners of the site, I finally obtained permission to metal detect some farm fields that once had dwellings from colonial days. There is still corn stubble in the field and it was difficult in places to get the coil close to the ground.
I set the E-TRAC on a two tone ferrous program and quickly located the debris field.
The first homesite produced four flat buttons and a 1798 U.S. Large cent in fantastic condition for being buried for over 200 years.
The other smaller homesite in the same field gave up two badly worn U.S. Liberty seated dimes dated 1842 and 1854 as well as a round spherical shaped button. Love my E-TRAC!
