Today started out like most, breakfast, dog walk, detecting. It finished very differently..... It's a short drive to where I wanted to go detecting and then a short walk once there. First few targets were various bits of lead and other trash. I slowly wandered to an abandoned park and over about 2 hours I had only found a couple of New Zealand pennies and a UK 1/2 penny. Not too bad but could be better. Time to head home for lunch. On the way back to the car I was only getting rubbish signals that resulted in trash. That was until I got a screaming 92 at about 3-4 inches down. Too good to ignore. Another aluminum can I thought. Boy, was I wrong. I turned the plug over and it was in the top part. The chunkiest gold ring I have ever seen. When I first saw it I couldn't believe it. Picking it up I was shocked by the weight at 30 grams (over an ounce) I did the gold dance and must have looked like a complete and utter weirdo. I didn't really care. It was only when I got it home and cleaned it properly that it really sunk in. 23 carat (96.5%) I just love my hobby
