Championship Ring Found

25 Sep 2023

I went out to a dried up swimming-hole and tried metal detecting for the second time (I had a few minutes to burn). I dug up a few bottle caps and other random pieces of trash. I was about to head out when I hit another signal. I started digging and found at first what I thought was a piece of pipe. After pulling it out of the ground I realized it wasn't pipe at all but a gold ring. A Phoenix H.S. Baseball State Championship Ring to be exact. I hurried home and washed it off and instantly messaged the school (I'm a former student from Phoenix H.S. as well). I learned from the coach that the owner of the ring had passed away a few years after graduating and the scoreboard was named after him (Drew Pierson). I then returned the ring to the school so that they could return it to Drew's parents(who has since moved away). I gave the ring to the school officer who actually played on the same team as Drew. Anyways, I'm happy to say that the ring is now back with the parents where it belongs.
