Canada's Capital military find

22 Jul 2019

As a kid, my parents got me a low end detector from the local hobby shop which started my quest for finding things that were hiding from everybody. Being about 10km from Canada's Capital, I have chance to hunt grounds that are about 200 years old. Every time that I'm out, I find something that was treasured by someone in the past. I like personal items more than anything else because it tells a story...which makes in way a relive some part of it. This week, just before dark, I was out with the EQ 800 in a totally new to me era, the ground was trashy, i had a hard time finding anything, suddenly, solid 19-20, I was expecting a cent. This beautiful plate came up. At first, I thought I had found a keychain. After inquiring others about it, it turns out to be a Watch Fob, probably belonging to a soldier that fought in WW1.

The plates depicts Canadians during a ww1 event involving chemicals warfare. Although violent at first sight, it is part of history, my local history in a way, lest we forget.
