This past spring I had obtained permission to hunt a all girls private school and I have found some amazing pieces of gold and silver and over 200 silver coins but my best find happened at a house owned be the school that sits way off in the woods and has long been forgotten about.
In the spring I tried to hunt the house but the ticks were so terrible that I could not hunt for more than 15 mins before I had to give up. On 12/3/14 I decided to go back and give it a shot and I'm glad I did!!! It started of slowly mainly due to the extreme underbrush and high grass but I crawled on my hands and knees hitting under all the trees that I could. I worked around a big old tree at the side of the house and found two wheat pennies under the roots and then I get a hit at 5" reading 12-42 on my CTX 3030 and I assume it's another wheatie but what I pulled out was simply staggering!! What I found was a Salzburg. Johann Ernst 15 Kreuzer 1694 silver coin that was made into a watch winder/spinner more than likely in the late 1700 to early 1800's. I have found many wonderful things including a gold pocket watch but none of those finds hold a candle to this great piece of history!
