I live in Ohio but spend winter at the Gulf Coast of Florida (technically a snow bird). Arrived at our condo early 12/31. Spent most of the day getting organized and stocked for our visit. Grabbed a few minutes before sunset on New Year's Eve to detect. Not 50 steps onto the beach I hit a screamer signal. The huge ring shown in pic#1 popped out. It was from Univ. of Southern Florida in Tampa (20 miles away). It had an unusual name so upon returning to the condo I put his name on Facebook and found he was still in the area and had graduated. I made contact and he responded. We reconnected on New Year's Day, I returned the ring and he offered a reward but I declined. I wanted the good karma for 2020! Have founds all sorts of stuff, none as great as this but have over a month left in Florida. I really enjoy the beach in all weather, so I get a blessing each day on the beach. I recently met a local man who publishes a beach newsletter and he published an article on beach metal detectors and included this story. My only regret is that he didn't mention how much junk we clean off the beach every day.
