My first in water beach detecting experience, with my new EQUINOX, gave me a memorable find. I made up my mind to get the EQUINOX already at the reveal day of the Detectival 2017 when I have to try it out. As the pre-ordered detector kept me waiting for four months, the weather circumstances could not keep me away from testing my new toy, when it arrived in the coldest time of the winter. The sea had not frozen up only in the northern parts of my home country. Therefore, I got myself equipped with everything needed for beach detecting with the water and air temperatures of 2 C°. I was detecting with a friend of mine on a beach, which is one of the busiest in the summertime. After couple of hours, with no remarkable finds I got a good and loud signal, showing VID 14-15. Suddenly the friend of mine, detecting a few meters from my spot shouted, that he found a gold ring. I went to check his find and returned afterwards to the place where my loud signal was. I was feeling a bit green with envy and started to dig up whatever was giving the signal and with the first scoop of sand, there was a huge golden ring right on the top of it. I was ecstatic with joy. In closer look, it was clear, that it was a high-school graduation ring for a person from his mum and dad. Inside the ring was also engraved the year 2007 and acronym for the school. On the ring was his monogram AL. Back at home, with some small research, I found three people, whose ring it could have been. I also discovered that I had one same contact in my Facebook friend list with two of those people and in less than 24 hours, I had the contact of the owner of the ring. I met up with him and he blown away that I had found his ring. He had lost it 6 years ago, while playing Frisbee with his mates in the water. He had looked for it long, but with no luck. Took a selfie with the reunited ring and owner, and felt the joy of giving.
