On a recent trip to Ladysmith South Africa a town renowned for the major battles of the Anglo Boer War I found this American General Service button (in circulation from 1875-1902) . The significance of this find is that only a very few Americans came to the aid of the Boer forces to fight against the British, thus an extremely rare find.
