A Day of Dimes

Success Story

My family and I went out one day to explore the Mojave Desert when we stumbled across an old camp. I pulled out my detector and within a few minutes I pulled out a 1909 silver quarter! As we trekked on I saw a few rock sqaures witch would have been old tent spots. As I detected the squares I noticed a little spot that was up the hill that kinda resembled a tent spot so I decided to check it out. As I was about finished detecting that area something sounded off in the corner of the square. I dug it up and it was a 1898 silver Barber dime! I got up and rechecked the hole and sure enough there was another signal! I found another dime and another and another! Eventually I had a handful of 7 silver dimes ranging from 1894 to 1907! I was really impressed with how well the Equinox 800 was preforming with the thousands of rusty nails and bits of metal that littered the desert floor. I kept detecting but did not find any more coins but I was completely happy with what I found which was: 1 silver quarter, 7 silver dimes, and 1 fantastic day! As we drove home I wondered how those old timers had lost that money (which was a lot back then). Did they stash it and get hurt, did they die? Were they drinking some whiskey out of one of the many broken bottles we saw, and it fell out of their pockets as they were too drunk to notice? Boy if these coins could talk, the stories they could tell!
