I was out the other day searching a very isolated Roman settlement that we located a few years ago. Part of which is definitely a religious complex due to the amounts of scattered coin finds, broken bracelets, strange votive objects and miniature axes that we frequently find here. It was perfect day, blue skies even if a tad cold with a wind blowing across the valley. However the amounts of finds our Minelab machines were making were surely keeping us warm with digging. I had a really deep signal heading towards a good foot in depth and at the bottom of the hole I thought I had found a Roman pin. Nope it was something a lot better it was beautiful enamelled artefact. It looks like one of those miniature votive altars that are occasionally found. However the leg sections appear slightly too long and thin.
