I am writing this story for my son Zachary Webster! He is age 10 from Waterlooville in Hampshire, UK I have been teaching him how to use his Minelab GoFind60 recently and today he wanted to try the beach again. He has been out with me twice but only found a couple of coins and lots of bottle tops! But today he ‘had a feeling’ apparently. We went to Southsea beach, a local sand and shingle beach. The tide was in so I took the tide line and Zach opted to hunt higher up. After 15 minutes, and 3 bottle caps later, Zach got a great signal. “It’s bouncing between the ring and coin symbols dad” he said and proceeded to dig it. I watched to see how he was doing, he dug down about 5” and used his pro pointer. Then I held the yelp of joy! Zach was holding a brooch!! On closer inspection it was a gold plated brooch with an opal insert - wow. Very good condition, although the reverse (with the pin) was heavily encrusted. I’d found a couple of rings on that beach, but this beat them hands down! He hasn’t stopped smiling and it’s safe to say say he has the detecting bug!
