I haven’t much of a clue about metal detecting, I decided to buy the equinox 800 and give it a go. The first time I used it I didn’t understand it but found an old ww1 military button and a few 1800 coins. The second time I took it out (the next day) I still didn’t understand it, I was on an old country estate built on and old mote and Bailey and I hit a target but it kept jumping random numbers and doesn’t settle on a target number, just chattering away when it picks up a target. However I decided this time to just dig it. It was about 15ft from a brook, you can see the brook used to flow through the area long ago, that’s why I was curious to see what it was. I dug down a foot then 2ft and the signal was getting stronger, it was getting dark so I filled in the hole and returned the next weekend. A week later a dug it again I reached the old river bed, stones pebbles and fine stones, I knew something was there and what ever it was must be big and really old! To cut a long story short after about to give up thinking it was old old junk I got a target from the pinpointed, it was what seemed to be an iron pin or something, anyway I dug deeper and wider, I’d say 4ft deep and found an old wooden and iron wheel, check out the picture, If anyone has any ideas to it’s age please let me know.
