I haven't detected for 40 yrs but always thought I would do it again some day. I occasionally read detector magazines and knew if I did it again I would want a CTX 3030 for land and water so on a whim I bought a used CTX 3030 from a friend in Oregon and he shipped it to me in Toronto, Canada. We ended up going to a Business Mastermind Retreat at a Resort in Jamaica and decided to bring our Detectors - It was winter here and I had not even tried my new/used 3030 yet. So about three days into our week stay se decided to detect at the Resort Beach. He has an XP Deus so he stayed on shore as I waded into the deep for the first time ever to detect, the first signal I was not able to recover anything so I moved on - getting the hang of the scoop was interesting with the waves pushing me around a bit. It started to raining and since I was already wet I decided to stay - I was determined not to leave empty handed after dragging all this equipment to Jamaica. My friend had to get his XP Deus out of the rain and took the shot of me in 4 feet of water then left. So I continued on and got a second signal 12:? something. I took about about 15 scoops out of the hole which was now about a foot deep and then I saw something pinkish in the scoop - it was heavy and shiny, Wow! I couldn't believe my eyes - it was a men's 14K rose gold wedding band surrounded by 4 rows of diamonds looking like the day it was lost and this was my first time using my CTX 3030 and it was the first recovery I had made with this detector using the pre programmed Beach mode - needless to say I am a believer - Truly Amazing! . Anyway that was a good hours detecting so I called it a day! When I got back to my room I called my friend at his room and said I was coming over to show him my find ( downplaying it! ) I told him to close his eyes and I dropped it in his hand - he couldn't believe his eyes - as a 20yr. veteran detectorist he said most spend their whole hobby looking for a find like this including himself! I went in a couple more times for about an hour each time with my friend now the new Scoop Operator, he was so excited. We found a few coins more and that's the story. I went home a little heavier than I arrived in Jamaica lol! David - Toronto, Canada
