I had permission to search an area that had recently been plowed . My son & I had usually searched for Indian artifacts in this field but on this day, I decided to detect along with trying to eyeball arrow points. It was lucky for me because my firs find was a 1794 to 1798 large cent. I was able to identify the coin by the reverse because the obverse is showing very little detail. about an hour later I got a strong 12-33 on my E-TRAC and approx. 6 inches I pulled out a Confederate General Staff Officer's button in very good condition. The button has the Lion & Crown seal on the backmark with R'veted & Soldered words. This has to be my best relic find after 41 years of detecting. I mostly coin & jewelry hunt.
