The Minelab F3 series of metal detectors have three earset options available.
New Minelab detectors can be ordered with any of the three earset options included. Therefore it is advisable that customer clearly specify which earset configuration they require.
The Earsets are also available as a spare part and can be ordered at any time.
4523-0027 Earset Speaker On
This is the standard F3 Earset used in humanitarian demining, it is a one piece earset that has a proprietary Minelab six pin connector. So it can only be used on Minelab detectors. This earset is often referred to as the ‘humanitarian earset’
The earset has a loop that fits over the operator’s ear to hold it in place. It can be used with helmets visors and other PPE.
The 4523-0027 Earset Speaker On when connected to an F3 detector will not mute any tones or sound from the detector. So connecting this earset will not change the operation of the F3 detector, the speaker in the handle of the F3 will continue to operate.
4523-0025 Earset Speaker Off (tactical)
This is the Tactical earset, this earset is typically used by defence forces. The earset is a one piece earset that has a proprietary Minelab six pin connector that can only be used on Minelab detectors.
The earset has a loop that fits over the operator’s ear to hold it in place. It can be used with helmets visors and other PPE.
The Earset Speaker Off is often referred to as the tactical earset because it will mute the F3 speaker in the detectors handle so that the only sound emitted from the detector will be through the earset. The Earset Speaker Off has a green band around the cable near the connector to distinguish it from the Earset Speaker On (humanitarian).
3011-0306 Earset F3 Generic
The Earset F3 Generic is a recent addition to the Minelab F3. This is a two piece earset comprising an adapter cable and an earset.
This earset is intended to benefit humanitarian deminers and other operator by providing extra flexibility due to the ability of being able to connect any generic earset with an 1/8th inch in line audio connector (same as ipod & phone)
The Generic Earset will not mute the F3 detectors internal speaker so it operates like the Humanitarian Earset.
The Earset F3 Generic can be included with new F3 detector purchases it can also be supplied as a spare part for use on any Minelab F3 detector. Additionally the two parts of the Earset F3 Generic can be purchased individually.
It is possible to use off the shelf commercially available headphones with Generic Earset in place of the Earset supplied.
